Miles of poppies and other flowers can be seen on the road to Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve in Lancaster, California. The California poppy was named the state flower in 1903. Poppies once grew throughout the state, but now the only large fields left are in Antelope Valley. The 1800 acre State Reserve was established to protect beautiful displays of wildflowers, and in particular the California poppy. This image was photographed during the 2019 Superbloom.
